Don.

Could someone help me stop the frustrating production of copies when
moving or copying files/images using Win explorer.

When files are dragged and dropped into the appropriate folder there
are usually at least ten sometimes dozens of copies of files produced
in the sourse folder.

I've never had this problem from Win95,98,98SE until I started using
XP. Hopefully this "feature" can be turned off.

Thanks for your interest and time.

A few things to try:

--Be very conscious of when the modifier key (Shift or Ctrl) is being
pressed. Release it after files are selected and before dragging. If it is
still being held when you drag the files and the pressure on the mouse
button varies, you will get copies of the files in the original folder.
Adjusting the mouse to be less sensitive might help to avoid the copy
syndrome.

--Select files and then use the MoveTo/CopyTo buttons in the standard
toolbar. You may need to customize the toolbar to add these buttons. If you
have not tried these buttons, they are very handy and work very similar to
the old Power SendTo power toy.

--Select files and use keyboard or Edit menu options to move/copy the
files.

--Select files and then use the MoveTo/CopyTo buttons in the standard
toolbar.

That fixed the problem Sharon thanks very much did not know about the
buttons.

Best wishes..

You're welcome, Don. I usually prefer keyboard over mouse clicks but have
also found those Move To/Copy To buttons to be quite handy.
