I have a folder on the network at work which contains some sensitive
information, so I changed the folder access rights to make sure no-one
could access it but me (I have admin rights). Then I copied it onto a
USB stick and brought it home and now I can't access it. The office is
closed for a week and I need this stuff asap. What can I do?
Thanks in advance.

You need to tell us WHY you cannot access it, i.e. what you
see on the screen when you try. Remember - we can't see your
screen!

Presumably your home computer does not have the same User as your work one.
You need to take ownership of the folder. Look it up in Help and Support

Ok, sorry. I get the message:

\\FileServer\\Staff Data\RJ is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network
path was not found.

Help and Support says I need to click the security tab in the folder's
properties. Trouble is, there isn't a security tab, there's just
"general".

Think I know what the problem is. It looks like I've just copied a
shortcut to the folder, instead of the folder itself. It's weird
though because the default action for drag and drop to a new drive is
copy, not make shortcut, and the folder icon doesn't have the little
shortcut arrow on it. I'd better see if I can get into the office I
guess. Thanks for your help everyone.

Only on local disks I think. If you are dragging from a network disk, then
the default action may be to make a shortcut. I always use Right-click/drag
because when you release, you get a context menu of options.
