Here's one you probably don't hear too often:

I was navigating through my system the other night using the
administrative tools menu, and I ran across this intriging-looking
screen that displayed 3 or 4 gauges that measured the system
temperature and two additional gauges that measured the activity of
two variable-speed fans. I'd love to find that screen again, but I'll
be #*%@$ if I can remember how I got to it in the first place.

Anyone familiar with this feature?

Thanks,
Larry parker

It's not part of windows, it came with the computer. Your manual may discuss it. Every computer comes with a similar program these days.

Every computer comes with a similar program these days is a completely false
statment. Where did you possibly get that information?

We'll idiots like you obviously haven't bought many computers. How many have you bought without this type of program.

Hey dude.. Man, what's up with you?

I'm not the guy you were calling an idiot, but I have bought two
different computers (Athalon's) within a year and neither of them show
temperatures.

The only temperature I am able to see is with a freeware program I
downloaded (PC Wizard 2004) that show every little thing on your
computer, and that only shows the hard drive temperature: "Hard Disk
Temperature #1 32°C" . Any other temperature readings are not
available - for the Processor it even says:
Power Status :
Voltage Control : No
Frequency Control : No
Thermal Sensor Built-in : Yes

But it does not report what the temperature is, only that it has a
sensor. So I am 2 for 2 with new computers and no temperature reports
built into it..

So maybe it is you who are the "idiot" here.

Maybe it depends on the manufacturer, and maybe on the motherboard,
and maybe on Athalon vs P4 or Celeron or whatever... I don't know - I
only know I've never seen a computer with temperature reports.

That is an absolutely false statement.
