Converting YYYYMMDD Special Format to Text

What formula or function converts a cell with a special
date format of YYYYMMDD, lets say 20030801, to the text
string "20030801"?

In my case the special format option YYYYMMDD makes the
number appear as 20030801 but will only display the actual
date value of 37834 when attempting to convert the date to
a text string.
