I have been given a disk for work with pub documents. I cant open them is
there a way of converting them into a format so I can veiw/edit them???I only
have Win XP

There is no Publisher viewer. The person with Publisher needs to save the
document as an image or as an RTF, TXT, PDF, DOC, HTM, etc. Which to choose
depends on what you want to use for editing, whether there are any images
involved, etc. Note that you won't be able to produce PUB files after
editing, so your choice of editing programs needs to take the desired end
result into account.

For now, you need to find someone with Publisher to convert the documents.

Probably not. The text will have command characters imbedded that are unique
to Publisher.

If you could pull up the document in Publisher, you might be able to
copy/paste text into something like Word, but you would lose all the
Publisher editting commands.

I suggest you buy a copy of Microsoft Office, which includes Publisher.
Amazon has special pricing for Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 - less than
$563.00!

I have spent hours on this problem. I lost Publisher 2001 somehow on my ME.
The instructions for reloading it doesn't work. I bought Pub 95 and Pub 98
from ebay. I have Pub 2006 on my new Dell. I keep getting the message: "You
cannot open Publisher files from another version. No other program will open
it either.
