Hello,

I've created a nice ppt at powerpoint xp, and ran it in powerpoint 2000. As
i expected all the custom amimation was changed.

so, i saved in a pps format and ran it again in the computer with the
powerpoint 2000. again, the animation changed.

isn't making a presentation a pps means i could view it anywhere (even if i
don't have powerpoint ?) ?

No, a PPS will open in the available version of PowerPoint on the machine.
If you don't have PowerPoint or the Viewer it will not open (the only
difference between a PPS and a PPT, other than file extension, is how they
react when double clicked - a PPS opens in Show Mode and a PPT opens in Edit
Mode).
To view a PowerPoint XP or 2003 file on a machine that doesn't have
PowerPoint XP you'll need to download the PowerPoint 2003 viewer from
Microsoft and install it on that machine.

No. The .PPS file extension just causes the file to be opened in PowerPoint in
Slide Show mode when it is double clicked - - in whatever version of PowerPoint
is installed and set as the default application to open .PPS files. If you
download and install the PowerPoint 2003 Viewer, open it and then open the
presentation, your animations and transitions will work as designed.
