Which OS are you running, and if it is XP, why are you trying to convert the
file system via a DOS command when you can do it through DIsk Management in
WIndows?

He's posting in a Windows XP newsgroup. Clearly he's asking about Windows
XP.

and if it is XP, why are you trying to
convert the file system via a DOS command when you can do it through
DIsk Management in WIndows?

Oh? Can you? Please explain exactly how.

That's a security check to make sure that you are aware of, and know what you are doing; to make sure that you don't accidentally
mess things up just trying an app. It's like asking for a password or prompting "are you sure?".

All you have to do when it asks you for the volume label is to enter the volume label of the drive you are converting. Before you
type convert, type dir \. Now look at the top. It will say "Volume in drive C is ##THISPART##". Now run convert and when it
prompts you, type in that ##THISPART##.
