can files created in a microsoft works spreadsheet be
converted into excel and/or access database? If so, how
would you do it?

I believe that excel can import,or open those sheets. You then can save as
excel, and from there, can pretty much go anywhere.

Try using import from excel...

The current version of MS Works Spreadsheet will allow you to save
your spreadsheet as an Excel file (*.xls). Also, Excel will load newer
versions of Works Spreadsheet files (*.xls). That's by far the
cheapest way to go. If you have an older version of Works and that
approach won't work, there's a 3rd party add-in for Excel that will
allow you to load and convert the old Works Spreadsheet files directly
into Excel.... but it's expensive. Do a Google search "Convert Works
to Excel" and you should find several options.
