convert music to .wav files

I am using songs from a cd for my presentation. Should I be changing them to .wav (or other sound) files? If so, how do I go about converting them? I have done a lot of reading and cannot come up with an answer.
 
Norma, have a look at eac (exact audio copy) at
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/eac.html. It's easy and free.
