Hello:
I would like some help with exporting data from excel to access I am
having problems exporting a table, the last column of the table is not
being formated as date/time, specifically dd-mmm-yy, it's being
formatted as text.
I saw Karl's Burrows response to a similar question in December/2003
and he talks about saving the excel file as a CSV. I did that, and I
was able to change the "problem" column to a date/time; in Access I
clicked on File/Get External Data/Import. Chose delimited and then
also chose first rows as field names. I also clicked on "" for Text
Qualifier (because when I didn't, the data in one column was sitting
in another column). Then I clicked on Advanced and changed chose the
appropriate data type for each field and also chose DMY. Saved the
specs. Everything is looking okay at this point. I clicked on ok
continue. Checked my data and it's looking just the way I want it to,
the date and everything are just in the right format.
I saved the new table as a new name. But when I viewed the table in
datasheet view, the "problem" column is empty, all my dates are not
there. The exact number of rows was important, but this whole column
is empty, but it wasn't empty while I was importing the table because
I saw part of the data in the import text wizard window.
Can anyone help.
Thanks.
