Hi,

Recently I backed up my drive using Nero Back-It-Up, and can't recall if I
accidentally or purposely specified 8.3 filenames.

Now that I've restored the files (many thousand), most of them don't mean
very much to me, and make finding things nearly impossible.

Anyone know if the original filenames are stored somewhere (and if so, how
to get them back), or if they're gone forever...?

Thanks.

A quick way to check if LFN data is present. Open a Command
Prompt and CD (Change Directory) to one of your restored folders.
type Dir /X [Enter]. If the LFN data is in tact, you'll see both a 8.3
and Long filename in the listing. If only 8.3 appears the LFN data
is lost.

Thanks, R.

Looks like they're gone forever... :(

If you told the CD software to us only 8.3 names, then the CD will
only have 8.3 names saved.
