Good day. I am using Word 2002 on a 933MHz processor
running Windows ME with 384MB of RAM and 20 GB hard
drive. I created a file on my daughter's machine using
Word 2000 and she sent me the file via email after I
returned home. When I open the file in Word 2002 there is
no option to convert the file and file properties identify
the file as a Word Document. The file is 646KB in size.
The file opens and I am able to maneuver through the
entire file. The file contains various fonts, images and
one landscape page near the end of the file. I am able to
use Print Preview and see all of the pages. As soon as I
try to print the file or even select 1 page of the file to
print, my system basically hangs up. The mouse pointer
will move, but I cannot select any of the Word functions.
After a few seconds, I execute the Control-Alt-Delete and
it says that Word is not responding. At this point the
only way out is to stop the task and start over.
Sometimes, if I wait too long, the blue screen of death
appears telling me that the system is busy and I have to
restart the system.
Any suggestions on what is happening? I have even tried
saving the open file under another name to see if that
would help, but no change. I appreciate any suggestions.
I can print other files of larger size with no problem.
Thanks, Danno...
