Hi there,

This house have 5 home XP computers share on wireless D-link router. I am
using 1 desktop and 1 laptop. How can I set up network that allow only two of
my computers to share files without other 3 computers able to access? Is
there any way I can modify the setting in Window XP which I find it easy to
share. I used the different name of workgroup, will it prevent other 3
computers to access 2 of my computers?

Qelami,

Workgroup name only changes what gets displayed in the Network Neighborhood
root; if you look under Entire Network, you'll find all of the other computers.

You could try putting a password on Guest, which means some folks wouldn't have
ANY access to your computer. Or you could firewall the 3 computers out.

Other than that, if you're going to use XP Home for sharing files, you'll have
to get used to everybody having equal access. That's one of the advantages of
XP Pro - more select ability.
