Each time I start XP Home the control panel page appears on the desk top.
How can I prevent this action.

The Control Panel or maybe Common Tasks?

Remove Common Tasks from the Desktop.

Start | Run | Type: regsvr32 /i shell32 | Click OK |
Restart Windows.

Thanks wes will try that.
I probably didn't exlain the subject very well.
When I start the computer the Control Panel page appears on the desk top .
Normaly I would have to go to my computer and select it.
Again thanks for your help

Wes that didn't work. I will try to explain it better.
When I start Xp Home it loads up Control Panel on the desk top open with the
icons visible. Normally I would have to go to my Computer and bring up the
Control Panel page. I can't figure where the hook is that is loading this
page.

Virgle, can I make a suggestion? Download Mike Lin's excellent free
Startup Control Panel here:

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

(There are 2 versions: one is a standalone program and the other
installs as an applet within Control Panel.)

Then run it and look on all the tabs to see if Control Panel is starting
from any of the Startup groups or common Registry keys.

Let us know how it goes!
 
Nightowl, I have that program installed. It shows up in the control panel as
"Startup".
It doesn't have anything listed that would affect the control Panel loading.
Must be something in the registry.

Problem solved. I had a program called SANDBOXIE which I had some problems
with. I removed the program and that cleared up the problem. It was causing 2
unwanted folders appear on the desktop every time I started the computer.
Maybe this will help someone else.
