I went to the control pannel on my dell laptop with windows xp, and i went to
the bottom left icon, computer performnace, i think. I clicked on it, and it
brought me to a new page. At the top, it says "taskes", then below, it has
all these things that you can click on. I went to the one that said "adjust
visula affects." I clicked on the circle that said "choose best for
performance", and the boxes turned unchecked. I wanted to see how it would
look, i know, what an idiot, and i pressed "okay" at the bottom. It turned
everything into window's 98 look, and i couldn't get it to turn back to
normal. My control pannel now have a big box with all the icons in one
space, so i can't get back to just the computer performance to get to the
tasks to undo what i did. My sister got the taskbar back to normal for me,
but now all my icons n my desktop are highlighted in blue, but just the
names, not the actual icons. Can you please tell me what to do to get it
back to normal?
Thanks to anyone who can

My friend also has all the icon descriptions highlited because he changed his
desktop picture (the background picture), but the icons themselves were not
highlited. I may sugest you change the desktop picture, but i can't promise
results. But its worth a go. Unfortuneatly i don't have tips for you about
the subject if that doesn't work.

Good luck!

Now there is a prime candidate for an *extremely* limited account.

Good luck,

Google turned this up as well ...

Go to Start / Run and type: sysdm.cpl and press OK.

Click Advanced Tab and in the Performance Section, click the Settings Button. You can change the options there.
