I want my control panel to open in "icon view" mode, but it keeps reverting
to details view, as do all sub menus from the control panel. The same is
true of the printers folders.

In folder options "remember each folder view" is ticked so why does it keep
forgeting?

When I set the computer up I did format one folder to details view & I
clicked "apply to all folders", but surely after I have done this I can
change the odd one or two that I like to set up differently.

Lorne,

Your problem is that there's not enough memory available in the file
that stores your view preferences. The solution is to go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and apply the fix that's on
line 2, left hand column. It's a registry edit that increases the
preferences storage size. The instructions for applying it are at the top of
Kelly's "Tweaks" page.

Hope this helps,
Milt

Seems to have fixed it - many thanks
