When I installed service pack2 , the control panel does not work. I keep
getting error message from Debugger ( something , something, postmaster etc).
Then my computer locks up and has to be rebooted.

Also my broadband AOL service crasjes every time I want to start the service.

Please help!

I cannot help myself , forgive me. AOL is the worst ISP there is. They
charge premium for a suck service. Broadband is not for signing on and off
or recieving emails in the time it would've took to post them snail mail.
There are many sites devoted to why aol are bad news and the list is long.
The aol software gets its hooks into everything on your pc and WILL drag it
down. It is the biggest piece of spyware which exists.

My advice - get shut of it.
Oh and cancel your credit card you used to set up the account or the bank
account because they will continue to STEAL money from you which they WILL
not pay back (oh you could sue their billion dollar asses yeah right!) they
will offer you extra hours service instead. They will never agree to cancel
your service either and you will be passed from pillar to post on the
phone. They will say you are locked into a contract or some other lie. My
advice on how to cancel their "service" is to just stop paying them. They
are renowned for this (such a reputable company). If all you want is AIM
you can use that without AOhell. This company stole money from me,
acknowledged they were at fault and refused to give it back (it's not their
policy apparently). Sorry i'm ranting but all their lies make me FURIOUS.
Including their new advertisement on TV> No download limits with aol is
there not. Well name one bloody ISP where there is download limits because
it's none I've ever heard of. They just try to make out you get something
special from them which you just get as standard everywhere else. AAAGGGHHH

Well , you certainly have opened my eyes. I was thinking of getting rid of
them as I was having problem sharing the internet on the wirless network at
home.

I will definitley take your suggestion and look for other ISP.

In the meanwhile do you have any suggestion for my Control Panel not working
under service Pack 2.

Many thanks

Syed

This might be harsh but to be honest if I was you I would do a full
reformat (after saving what you want to keep) in order to fully get rid of
AOL. That way you will have a nice clean base to start with and most likely
the problem would not recur. I'm not sure why the control panel wouldn't
work. Did you check the compatability of your hardware before installing
SP2. Do you have a restore point pre-SP? You could try removing it or using
a restore point and re-installing it. Maybe a file got corrupted? Go to
add/remove progs and make sure. If this doesn't fix it then I'm stumped.
My ISP is NTL and they have been very good. I was previously with Tiscali
(when they were called Lineone) and they were excellent also but they
cancelled their free service unfortunately.
You could try your XP disc to repair the files (might be one to try first)
With the disc in
type in a command prompt : sfc /scannow
and maybe it will repair itself.
