Hi I am using Access 2007, I have a form with an amount field control - the
enabled property of this is set to NO. When I go through the records if
there is a negative amount in this field the control is enabled.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Thanks
Stu

Something else must be going on here, Stu.
I can't reproduce this in A2007 SP1 under Win XP.

Perhaps you can try a new form, without any code, or conditional formatting,
and with at least one control that is enabled. Verify that the Enabled
property is respected on your computer. You can then start pinning down what
the culprit is with your original form.

Presumably you've already tried the basics such as compact/repair. (Also,
you can programmatically assign a value to a disabled control.0

Thanks Allen, I have redone this and the problem occurs when i put
conditional formatting on the control (red text for a minus) - is this
normal?.

Thanks again

Yes: there was a bug like that associated with conditional formatting. It's
a shame it's still there in A2007.

Does it only occur if no other controls are enabled? Or if this is the first
control in the tab order? I can't recall the specifics.

It appears to occur regardless of what other controls are enabled. I can
prevent the value being changed by locking the control however it appears
different from the rest of the controls then.

Don't suppose it is a major issue - thought MS would of picked up on it
though.

Thanks For your help Allen.
