Did you also lose your existing calendar and emails? If so, it sounds like Outlook is now pointing to a brand new "empty" .PST file. You can perform a search for all existing .PST files on
your machine, and open each file to see if it contains your missing contacts. If you find a lot of .PST files during your search, you can look at the last modified date to get a good idea of
whether each file is current or old.
To find your .PST files, go to the Start menu and choose Find > Files or Folders. In the Named: box, type in *.PST. Make sure you have your hard drive(s) selected in the "Look In" box,
and the Include subfolders box is checked. Click on the "Find Now" button. Write down the location of each file, then open Outlook and look at each .PST file by File > Open > Outlook
Date file.
