We have a win2000 domain, running xchange 5.5 and using citrix for our
clients to log on.
One is having a problem with her contacts. When in outlook 2000 i click
on her contacts, I can clearly seem them, there must be around 80-100
in it, but when you go to type a new e-mail, click on To, drop the
"Show Names from the:" and select Contacts, nothing shows. I even
copied the Contacts folder to another one, made sure that "Show this
folder as an address book" is ticked, on both, still nothing!

It's puzzling, it started happening recently. Because we have 3
different server for citrix where our clients connect to either one of
the three, i thought it was that particular server she was on, so i
tried the other two, no joy.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

It's friday evening, I'll supply more info on monday if I dont get the
chance to supply some over the weekend if anyone offers any help.

Try removing the Outlook Address Book service from her mail profile, and
restarting it, and adding it back in - then try assigning 'show as Outlook
address book' for each contacts folder.

I also suggest you seriously consider upgrading - Exchange 5.5. and Outlook
2000 are quite out of support now. But that shouldn't be relevant to the
above.

Alright, found the answer. The reason (for this lady at least) was that
the first name on the contact list was incorrect, this would apply to a
special character being the first one, such as * or even blank etc. The
name display should start with a letter character. My client had one
which was: *Welcome to Contacts* including the *, which shouldn't have
been the case.

So try doing that if you encounter the same problem and it might help
you.
