OL2000 SP3

This is very similar to the other threads where people dont have the
"show address book" checked, or ones where they don't have the "Outlook
Address Book" added to services.

Except with this error none of those fixes work. I tried deleting the
service and re-adding it to no avail. (yes I clicked exit and log off
in between)

Anyone have any other ideas?

Does anything show up in your address book? Also, just to be sure, you're in
Corporate/Workgroup mode as shown on the second line here: Help menu >
About, right?

When you say "address book" which one are you looking at? The Personal
Address Book, Global Address list, etc?

It is the personal address book. The GAL is shown just fine.

The Personal Address Book is obsolete. You should be using your Contacts
folder and the Outlook Address Book service, even in Outlook 2000.

OK, if you're using the Outlook Address Book, it gets its entries from the
Contacts folder... so, what entries are showing?

When you click directly on the contacts folder, all of them. When you
hit To: on a new email it doesnt show anything.

OK, but you mentioned that the address book had 732 contacts in it earlier.

Have you tried creating a fresh profile in the Control Panel's Mail applet?

I've deleted the profile entirely and then recreated it. Restarting
outlook along the way.

The address book shows contacts. When you click TO: in the new email
and select OAB you dont see anything.

Real dumb question for you... Do your contacts have email addresses?

Also, in the address book are you selecting Contacts from beneath the
Outlook Address Book entry?

I am having an identical issue, except I am not using Exchange, but rather
the local system only... I have hundreds of contacts listed in my contact
folder, but when I open an email and click the TO: button, no addresses show
up, and no address books show in the "Show names from the" drop down menu

And yes Vincent, my contacts almost all have email addresses... I have read
this entire thread, but have not actaully found any hints...

If you could, please advise...

Thanks in advance...

Some questions for you:
- what version of Oultook are you using?
- Do you have your Contacts folder flagged to be used as an address book?
