Contacts main title bar grayed out?

Greetings..here is a screen cap:

If you look at the main line for each contact, you see there is no main
"title" for the contacts.

What happened was this: a client using Outlook 2000 hit the 2gb limit,
and the pst file was corrupted. Used the MS pst file compaction
utility to shave some data off, but there was still some corruption
apparently. Upgraded to Outlook 2003 to at least be able to get to the
data, but there were no Contacts nor Calendar.

Did a one-way sync from her Treo, which put the items back, but with no
title bar. Looking for insight or a way to proceed. Thanks in advance.
 
It looks like the file as field got messed up - you can customize the view
to show anything you want in the first line - right click in the white area
below the blue bar that says contacts and choose customize. Put the Full
Name field at the top.

You might be able to find some code samples at outlookcode.com to reset the
file as field.
