Contacts List

Windows Mail auto-completes from a separate list of 29 addresses you type
in, not from your contacts. This list is stored in the registry.

If you wish to remove old or incorrect addresses, there is a utility to
clear recently used email addresses in Windows Mail...

To retrieve addresses from your contacts folder, click on the To: button.

This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live
Mail.

Thanks for the reply I should have been more specific. I imported my contacts list from Outlook Express and when addressing Mail from Webmail for some reason it will not complete the address unless I have received mail from that address and have replied to it recently???

I don't know what you mean by "Mail from Webmail ".
Like I said, WM does not auto-complete from your contacts. It only does
that from a list of addresses that you have recently typed into a message.

Skytrooper, you realize you don't need auto-complete
whatsoever to send emails?

You simply open an email and click on the To: field.
Your list of contacts pops up and you select the one
you want. If you want to sent to multiple people,
you put all those people in the BCC area and then
your email can be sent.

That should have read Windows Mail again when I created an e-mail in Outlook Express prior to using Windows Mail I did not have to type out complete e-mail address just the first several letters and if they were in my contact list it would complete the address automatically. I do not send e-mail to everyone ever day so if I do not remember their e-mail address I have to pull up my contact list to find complete e-mail address did not have to do that in Outlook Express just type in the first few letters of address...[/QUOTE]

I am not looking to delete anyone just have Windows Mail recognize names stored in contact list I imported from Outlook Express...it does not do that I have to type in complete address when creating/sending mail (not replying sending)

You are running around in circle with this matter. I'll try to make it as
clear as I am able to :
1. The " auto-complete " in Windows Mail does not work the same way as
Outlook Express.
2. Windows Mail can ONLY auto-complete the address which belongs to the LAST
29 addresses you recently used.
3. If the address you want does NOT belong to that group of 29, you will
have to hit TO button and call it up by typing the first few letters in the
FIND box, or by scrolling down the list of addresses.
