How can I put an email address from someone in my contacts folder ?
I don't want to automatically put people I reply to in my contacts folder,
so that box is unchecked.

I received an email from a friend who wasn't in my address book today and I
tried right-clicking stuff to find the command "Add this email address to
contacts folder" or some equivalent and I couldn't find anything!
I ended up doing it manually by clicking "New Contact".

were you selecting the address and right clicking? if so, did you get any
right click menu pop up?

in the preview pane or open message, select the actual address in the from
field by clicking on it once and right click - you should get the correct
menu.

Ahh!!
I see.
If I double-click the message so it opens in it's own window, and then rt
clk the address, I get what I want.

I cannot find the actual address in the from field in the preview pane. Not
sure what you mean there, but anyway, I know how to make it work now.
Thanks.

You may have the preview pane header hidden. Right click on the line
separating the messages from the preview or on the gray border in Outlook
2003 and choose Header Information.

No, the preview pane header is not hidden. I can see the thick blue strip
that is the header. I can hide it by double clicking it into a thin line,
and bring it back by double clicking the very thin line.

But there is no address there. Only the name of the sender. Right clicking
only brings up the options pertaining to the header itself.
