Does that mean characters 7 - 13 in the very first row of info??
Beats me. I've never used the technique, never having needed it before.
Perhaps you can send an Email to the author of the web site containing the
tip.
So does them mean that a .pst only get's larger?
Not necessarily, but sometimes. When an item is removed from a PST, the
space it occupied becomes "white space". The data is still in the space,
but there's no way to address it because the space has been marked for
reuse. If you compact the PST, then the space is actually removed from the
PST. Compaction can be done manually. There is also a periodic automatic
compaction.
And if the file
is there, I should be able to get some of the contacts???
It's possible because the technique in the tip to which I directed you
actually corrupts the PST, causing the Inbox Repair Tool to try to rebuild
it. In the process, it may remark some of the white space as in use,
thereby giving you access to the data in it again.
Good luck!
