Recently we installed a new "C" drive and moved data from the old one.
However, in Outlook, I cannot use the "To" and/or "CC" buttons. A message
comes up "The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts list
associated....it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have
permissions. To remove..."

I am running Office XP/Students & Teachers, all updates are in.

We removed the old Address book (.wab) (492KB) from the "E" drive (leaving a
copy there) and it now resides at C/(user)/AppData/MS as the third folder,
named Larry.wab. I also have "Contacts.wab" (492KB) in Outlook under the
same (Microsoft).

How do I obtain "permissions?"--I am the administrator for both the C and E
drives. I have tried re-pointing the contacts, but it gets the same warning.

Thanks for your assistance!!

Outlook does not have an address book and does not use the WAB.
Were you just confused or are you not really not using Outlook?

It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to “lose track†of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you incorrectly move or import
your PST, or update your Outlook version or OS. Use the following steps
to reset the connection, depending on your Outlook version. Note that in
some instances you may actually have to remove the Outlook Address Book
completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and then re-add it before
you can get it to work.

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book.
Is the box to enable as email address book checked?

If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or
change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book
present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If
it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat
these steps to add it.
