That feature was removed from "Windows Mail" in Vista, sorry.

No, you can't. But since the Contacts are stored in a normal folder, you
can leave the folder open at all times.
Also, I understand that there's a sidebar gadget for contacts somewhere.

Put the Contacts in the Sidebar, via the Windows Orb (Start) > All Programs >
Accessories > Windows Sidebar then add the Contacts (and any other gadgets
you want) by clicking the plus sign at the top.

Now click on the Contacts ‘shaded’ box and drag it to the Desktop to give a
bigger and better display as an ‘open book‘.

If you have been able to do it before, why do it again?

Never mind, here is how to import addresses:
1. Go to Outlook Express > File > Export > Address Book and select Comma
Separated Values (CSV) > Export, select the fields you want or, for more
safety, select all the fields and save it to an external device.
2. In Windows Mail go to File > Import > Windows Contacts, select CSV >
Import and browse to the file you exported from OE.

I am trying to import my addresses from my old computer and it is not
working, I have been able to do this before.

Burt, your suggest worked perfectly and all of my email addresses were
exported from my OE 6.0 Address Book in XP, and then imported into my Vista
Windows Mail. However, none of the Group Contacts came though? I had two
major groups with one group having 250+ contacts in it. What can I do to
import the OE address book and include the Groups?

Thanks,

Steve

Opps, I spoke to soon. My imported from OE 6.0 XP for addressed worked
fine, BUT the autocomplete email does not work. Yes, the
Tools/Options/Send/autocomplete is checked.

The autocomplete function doesn't use the contacts list. Instead,
it uses a separate list of the last 29 addresses you sent messages
to. This list is very hard to edit; it's easier just to send messages
to the 29 addresses you want on this list.

If you'd rather use the contacts list, start a new message but don't
type any part of the address. Instead, click on To:.
