Contact - area codes

I've noticed that when I had a phone number and leave out the area code, it
still puts my local area code in the field. Is there a way to shut this off?

Where would you expect to find Modem properties? Inside of each of the
programs that can take advantage of an internet connection, or somewhere
else?

I found the settings but didn't see any place to turn off this setting.
I thought I could possibly set a rule but that didn't work. Any other
thoughts?

Ed, I'm not sure you understood my question. A friend of mine asked me how
she could turn off the area code listings for her Contact addresses for
those items that are local. By default, Outlook puts the local area code in
there. My friend doesn't want them placed in there. I'm just curious to know
if it's possibly to turn off that feature.

Remove the area code in the dialing properties.
