For a while now my computer has been just restarting at
random times. I scanned my computer for viruses and found
none. Now, after it did it again, when I booted up, some
programs were showing errors that said I should run
chkdsk. The computer was acting unbelievably slow, and
now when I restart, checkdisk is running but the
percentage is not moving a bit. Please help.

Sounds like a failing or failed hard disk.

To find out for sure, go to the hard disk manufacturers web site and download their
diagnostic software. If this is a Dell PC you can use their diagnostic software.

Western Digital - Data Lifeguard Tools (DLGDiag)
IBM/Hitachi - Drive Fitness Test (DFT)
Seagate - SeaTools
Maxtor - PowerMax.

installed programs somehow over my network to my laptop?
