I used to have 3 old slow HD's and they rarely needed to defrag.

Recently bought a 80gig WD800JB, C: is a 10GB partition with windows and
office on it, the other partition ended up being about 65GB and thats where
I put all my programs and crap at, constantly moving files around on it.

The defrag program is always telling me C: needs to be done and the other
partition is always fine, I've never analyzed 2 days in a row but I know I
just defragged it about a week ago and today its telling me it needs to be
done again, is this normal?

Welll xp does write a lot of files, registry entries, etc, so that
does not seem unusual.

Are you running defrag when you get this message, or is it a pop-up.
It sounds like some warning threshold is set too low. I have
no idea where this would be.

A little fragmentation never slowed anything down, such that
you'd notice.
