Howdy,
A client of mine who is using Windows XP on two computers
that are networked via a crossover network cable. The one
computer acts as a internet proxy and the other dials up
through that computer. The client computer constantly
tries to dial up to the internet. Initially the blast
virus was detected on the computer which was assumed to be
the cause of the problem. A fix has however been run on
both computers and they are both running the latest,
updated version of Norton Anti-virus which detects no
viruses when scanning is done.
I have checked the entire plethora of Windows XP System
settings with regard to dial up connections and the
Internet to make sure that its not a setting that is
causing the computer to dial. I have also disabled Norton
Anti-viruses auto LiveUpdate feature.
Do you have any idea what could be causing the computer to
dial up? It is causing the client to have an unusually
high phone bill and is causing an inconvenience to the
client as they are constantly having to close the dial up
window whilst working offline on the computer.
Please send any advise you may have to solve this problem,
it will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Gareth Lawson
