Connection speed restored

Special thanks to Purplhaz and Alex Nichol for advice on
rolling back my driver.I have done so and my speed is
back to previous level. Worth looking at my previous
posting and reply from Alex on 28th Aug regarding driver
updates. I will be more careful in future.Just a thought:
what's the point in updates if they degrade performance?

I hate to give you bad news. That balloon popup that tells
the speed on initial connection, is just that, initial connection.
Mine will connect at any where from 49,900 to 52,000 but
it will continually change from line noise etc. The only
way to get a true speed is to download a file and see what
the download speed is. Mine is usually from 5.8 to 6.2kbs
on my dialup....
