i'm trying to connect to the internet through our network
at home. when i look at the network settings, it tells me
its connected the network and is ok. however when i try
to connect to the internet, i cant get on. internet
explorer says it cant detect the network settings. how
can i get that computer to use the network to go on the
internet. i also have 2 other computers that are working
fine. 1 computer is connected to the router directly and
the other computer as well as the one i'm trying to
connect is connected to a switch which is connected to
the router. i know its possible cuz my friend has done it
before, but i cant remember how he did it. please help,
i'm stumped.

i am having the same prob. the only way i can connect to my network is type in the ip address of the network router. if i dont give my computer the ip address it will not obtine one automaticly. it gives me some 169.X.X.X address. its weird. please somebody HELP!! all my other computers on the internet can connect
i have tryed
1. reinstalling the driver for the network car
2. moving the network card to another slot.
3. changing network cards.
4. hooking directly to the modem
and what ever else you can think of.
