Someone in the company just bought a notebook with Windows XP Home. We need
to include it in our network with Windows Server 2000. Before to do it, I
want to know if we should expect too many problems? Which kind of problem? Is
it usefull to change XP home to XP Professional? According my IT department,
they say it is absolute needed as they will not have any control over that
computer.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

XP Home cannot join a domain but can use domain resources. I would suggest
upgrading it to Pro and joining it to the domain.

Your IT folks are absolutely correct. Though Malke is correct that you can
connect the laptop and use some network resources, your IT staff won't be
able to push out updates, security settings, and so on as long as the
computer is using XP Home and has not been joined to your domain.
