I have a winXP computer connected to internet, and and old win98 computer i
am trying to connect. After doing the netsetup, i can see the 98 and its
shared folders from the XP. When i search for the xp on the 98 it finds it
(and i can ping it from the command prompt) but when i try to get into it
this message pops up:

//Computername is not accessible.
Not logged on.

The "Internet Gataway" symbol is visible in the 98 systray, and it says
Connected, but when i open the internet browser it does not find any
webistes, like it would if it was disconnected.

Can anybody please help me?

The Win98 user isn't logged on. Is there a logon prompt when Win98
starts? If so, don't cancel it. Complete the logon by entering a
user name and, optionally, a password. If there's no logon prompt,
click Start | Log Off and log back on. If that makes network access
work properly, the most likely fix is to go to this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Network\Real Mode Net

and delete the value named "AutoLogon", as shown here:
