Connecting two computers.

I have dial-up. I just had my son put a new video card in, a good one and
download the drivers that it needed. It is still shutting down. What I would
like to do is connect this computer to my other one. Can I do this and what
do I need to buy? I would like to transfer all my important information to
the other computer in case I were to loose it. Is this posible? Thanks. I am
just trying to learn without going to my son all the time, he is too busy to
help me most of the time anyway. I am 51 and going back to school. Can you
believe that? Basic Computer and Digital Vector Graphics. Excited and
nervous.

you need 2 network card, 1 for each machine and a crossover cable and
some knowledge about networking

Usually, WinXP's Networking Wizard makes it simple and painless --
almost entirely automatic, in fact. There's a lot of useful,
