Get another cable and an Ethernet switch.

If you have Broadband Internet then get a Cable/DSL Router , such as a Linksys BEFSR41, with
a built-in Ethernet Switch.

To connect two PC's all you need is a *crossover* cable
connected to the eithernet port of each machine.

However if you have cable/dsl and want both machines networked
and on line... You might as well get a router and two "straight through"
eithernet cables.

the output of the dsl/cable modem goes to the router...
then the router gets connected to each PC

That's generally all you need to to...
but if you want to share files...you need to enable file sharing etc.

If you are cheap and lazy (I usually am):

Take an Exacto knife to the cable and splice pin wires:

1 - 3
2 - 6
3 - 1
6 - 2

(1-6 being L-R from top of plug. It should be clear so just use the color
codes.)

Hmm? Most modern NICs don't care.

Cheers,
