When I peruse the other messages, I realize my problem is not so terrible, but it is annoying and I thought someone might help me. I have just moved from Windows 98 to XP, and I have installed my Earthlink settings, etc. The only tihng is every time I log on, the Windows system keeps trying to connect me to my default email, Earthlink, but always has the password wrong -- too many letters. So I have to disable it and click on the Earthlink icon in order to sign on to Earthlink. I went to the connection settings and told it to always dial my default program, but everytime I go back in, it has changed to "dial whenver another connection is not present". How do I disable this thing and let me sign on using Earthlink?

You can log on to Earthlink without using Earthlink software. This is fully
approved and supported by Earthlink.
Set up a connection as described below. This will allow you to connect to
the internet. Once connected, you then go where ever you want. I have my IE6
set with Google as my home page. When I want mail, I open Outlook express
and retrieve mail from the Earthlink server. If I want to go to my Earthlink
page, I go to Earthlink.net and log on to my page. If you have any
questions about this, call Earthlink Support at
800-890-5128 and they will guide you. (I used to use the Earthlink software
but had so many problems with my home page, and problems working with the
mail section that I decided to rely on Outlook Express and Internet
Explorer. )
