Is there a way to connect 2 PCs together directly, to transfer files
from one to the other?

You are going to get lots of good advice on how to do it, it isn't all
that difficult to do. As already mentioned you should start by reading
the help files.

I only want to tell you that if you directly join or connect the
computers together by ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) you will
have to use a "Crossover cable". If you connect through a switch or
router instead of directly then use a "Straight Through" cable. That is
important to remember when you wire the computers together.

PS. Unless you are wanting to do this with laptops, and if you don't
already have patch cables, in my opinion the easiest way to do this is
by mounting the hard drive in the other computer.
