OK, here's your chance to get as totally frustrated as I am.

I am trying to connect Outlook 2003 (just installed Service Pack 1 for
Microsoft Office) to my MSN9 Mail Account (dialup). Running on Windows XP
(SP2).

I have tried everything: I have removed and reloaded Microsoft Office. I
have removed and downloaded The latest version of the Outlook Connector. I
have removed and added email accounts, over and over and over.

It seems that the first time I try to startup the Outlook Connector (after
the download); it tries to add a new email account, but gets a fatal error in
the module mscon32.dll. The first time I got this error, I was prompted to
add Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office. The prompt said SP1 would fix the
error - it didn't!

OK, so now my Server Status (in the lower right-hand corner) reads this way:

Storage quota is not available!
Mail : Error
Calendar : Connected
Contacts : Connected

When I print out the detailed Error Report, this is what I get:
*****************************
Outlook Connector Version 1.5.6232.0

Help. I have made numerous calls to Microsoft Tech Support. They try, and
they are polite; but they are not very helpful. It shouldn't be this
difficult. I can't believe others have experienced the same problem and have
persevered through this.

Did you try a new profile? Control panel, mail. Don't copy or delete the
existing one, make a new one.

Is the account you are trying to use associated with the MSN account?

Hi,
Outlook connector is available only to MSN premium users. Calendar and
contacts are free so you don't see any errors. But mail needs
subscription. Can you pls check if you are a MSN premium user by going
to http://membercenter.msn.com

Pls ping me (s_paramesh at hotmail.com) if you couldn't figure out the
problem.
Thanks,
Paramesh

The account I'm trying to access is an MSN account.

I added a new profile. As a result a new email account was added. It is
called "Microsoft Outlook Connector" and is of type MAPI (which has been
another consistent problem - where does that come from?). When I try to click

paramesh007, thanks for your input. I have explored this as a possible cause,
ad infinitum....... MSN Billings/Accounts have ensured me that my MSN9 Dialup
Account includes everything necessary to use Outlook Connector and to connect
to my MSN email account. However, there is much conflicting information at
various MSN websites, including this site

http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-us...offers&pgmarket=en-us&ST=1&xAPID=1983&DI=1402

which specifically states (in small print) that Outlook Connector is
exclusive to MSN. I have had many conversations with the Billing/Accounts
Staff over this issue. They assure me that this is not the problem. I must
admit however, that this seems to be a subscription issue, to
me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the comparison page says almost all of the features are in both premium and
dialup. The big difference is you get dialup access, premium is 'bring your
own access'.

Are you using all of your 10 subaccounts? Create a new one and wait 24
hours - then see if it works with the connector.

the connector uses a MAPI transport, so that is correct.

When you say the new account was added, did you select the account type or
did Outlook just try to create it for you? The connector account should use
your email address as the name.

The set of folders error means it can't find the msn *.ost file that is
associated with the profile. Did you restart outlook after adding the
account?
