Hey you guys,
I am trying to connect a Windows 2000 Machine to a XP and I am not
getting anywhere. I am on a wireless connection and XP does not like
2000 trying to connect to it. I tried doing the thing wirless setup
thing on XP where you go step by step and then it tells you to put in a
flash drive, I tried that and when I put it into the 2000 machine it
pops up a error message saying that this progtram is only compatable
with 95 98 millineum and XP. So I can not do it that way. I do have
all of the specs on the wireless connection though if I only knew where
to put them into. If you guys could offer any advice or point me to
another website I would really apprectiate it, I have been on the
computer all morning searching for help on the internet and I have not
been able to find out much of anything. Thanks!!!!!

On the WinXP PC, create local user account(s), with non-blank
password(s), that have the desired access privileges to the desired
shares. Log on to the other PCs using those account(s), and you will be
able to access the designated shares, provided your network is
configured properly. Also, make sure that WinXP's built-in firewall is
either disabled or set to allow exceptions for file and print sharing.

On the Win2K PC, create local user account(s), with non-blank
password(s), that have the desired access privileges to the desired
shares. Log on to the other PCs using those account(s), and you will be
able to access the designated shares, provided your network is
configured properly.

Usually, WinXP's Networking Wizard makes it simple and painless --
almost entirely automatic, in fact. There's a lot of useful,
easy-to-follow information in WinXP's Help & Support files, and here:
