Yes. Assign them TCP/IP addresses in the same subnet. Might want to put them
in the same workgroup, too, but much depends on what you want to do after
they're connected.

OK - you should be fine, as long as you set up the IP addresses correctly,
and enable file/printer sharing exceptions in your firewall. Once you can
ping by IP, see if you can ping by name, and then see if you can connect
using a UNC path or mapped drive to a share on the other computer.
The File & Settings Transfer Wizard should work fine over a network
connection, IIRC.
