I have a windows xp server that a business uses that is serving a Dos point
of sale program. Here is the layout:

Server - Windows XP SP1, D Drive shared
Station 1 - Windows XP SP1 - Mapped to Shared D drive on \\stationserver\d
Station 2 - Windows 98 SE (old server) mapped to same as above
Station 3 - Windows 98 SE (old station 1) mapped to same as above
Station 4 - DOS 6.22 machine with Dos Lan Client 3.0 and TCP/IP installed.

the dos station tried to log in to the network and can not see the XP
machines. Now i had originally tried with Netbeui on the XP machine, but
that was a no go as the dos netbeui wouldnt see it.

When i try to log into the network, the Dos unit gets this error:

ERROR 64 - The Network name was Deleted.

now there is no DHCP server on this network, so I set the dos machines' IP
to the same subnet and IP range as the server. Both using the same
workgroup name (workgroup). The server is called stationserver.

Any ideas?

Also i have yet to remove netbeui from the networking protocalls, as the
rest of the network (windows machines) are all running fine. I will pull it
out to see if that is causing anything, but please any help is greatly
appreciated.

thank you.

Chris

I could be mistaken (been a while since DOS) but if memory
serves 'stationserver' is not a valid name for DOS
networking try shortening the name to 8 or less char's.
