I installed outlook 2003 on my 2k pro partition.

I am used to using 98 and another MS product Outlook express for mail and
newsreader. You could easily add a new email account and new folders etc.
Now outlook is way different. It has groups which I do not understand. I
have set it up and it will send and deliver mail but it seems like it
wants to send all email with a master account and down load all mail for
all accounts at once. I have gotten it and myself very confused. I
suspect I will have to uninstall and reinstall to clean my mistakes out
and start over.

How can I get the info so I can understand the program? The help file is
web based and www stands for world wide WAIT.

Is there a way to make it behave like my old client?

Importing of old info>>>Does not work. of course the help file does not
tell you which file format you will need to import from what prog so you
have to guess and I can not spend a week switching from OS to OS figuring
it out.

Please if you know anything about my problems post back here. Thanks

You can turn off the online content in Office Help. In any Office product,
go to Help | Customer Feedback Options, click Online Content in the left
pane, and clear the "Show content and links from Microsoft Office Online"
checkbox (or one of the sub-checkboxes if you only want to disable certain
things). From then on, Help should only show local help files.

To address some of your other questions:

1) Outlook 2003 uses "Send/Receive Groups" so that you can include or
exclude various e-mail accounts from being automatically checked. Go to
Tools | Send/Receive | Send/Receive Settings | Define Send/Receive Groups
and you will be able to set up your groups there. Initially all e-mail
accounts are placed into the default group, but you can remove them from
there and/or set up customized groups if you like.

2) If you have a slow dial-up internet connection this may not be the best
resource, but www.slipstick.com is the definitive Outlook help website, and
you should be able to get a lot of helpful information there.

3) You say you were using Outlook Express before installing Outlook 2003,
correct? Do you have the data in Outlook Express on the same machine as
Outlook, or is it on a different machine or hard drive?

You are correct that Outlook Express tends to be much simpler to use and set
up than Outlook; it's designed that way. OE is mainly for the home user or
someone who doesn't need a lot of extras. Outlook is really designed for
the business world and is much more robust, which means a lot of extra
features and a lot more to learn -- but once you get the hang of it, you may
really love it. It all depends on what you want and need from an e-mail
program, really -- and whether or not you need the other features, like the
calendar, tasks, etc.
