got notice from microsoft to go to windows update - got there - scanned computer - critical download was 828035 - downloaded it - found it on my harddrive - tried to open it - QFE error says it can't find data needed - what should I do - if is a critical update - it is a patch about security vulnerability in the messenger service

You can't use Windows Update in XPembedded. If you're not using
embedded, then you'll need to ask in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
