conflict between windows xp and hp photosmart 1215 printer

When I upgraded to windows xp I started getting an error message on my desk top every 30-40 seconds which reads:"The connection between computer and your hp photosmart printer has been lost, click on the warning sign icon on your taskbar to try and re-establish the connection".----------- The connection was not lost and my printer was still working. The error message is very annoying. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give.

I also use Photosmart 1215 and recieved the same msg. it
is the smart card option for camera sticks that is losing
the connection if you don't use that feature you can
disable it via msconfig.
