Configuring applications w/o knowing end user's password

How do you guys configure applications that require settings under each
user's profile if you do not know the user's password? I have to wait until
the user logs in to setup the application. That is annoying and I don't want
to know passwords.
 
Logon script. Of course properly designed programs don't require you to do anything. Buy non faulty programs.

This would exclude all Windows OSes and all MS software for that matter,
esp. items with PA in them!
