I exchanged the Hard disk of my server and installed a new
Windows 2000 server in it, i kept the same domain name.
After that my XP machines cant conect to other XP shared
printers. How do I configure these XP machines in my new
domain keeping the old XP configurations ( desktop, shared
printers, etc...).
Thanks!

When you install a new domain, decommissioning the old,
you commit to rebuilding everything from the groud up.
If you can still log in with the domain accounts using the
cached credentials on the workstations with them disconnected
from the network, you could look into using the FAST Wizard
to transfer some of the per-User customizations/profiling
(you will find the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in the
Support\Tools directory of the CD as FASTwiz)

However, all aspects of domain structure must be redefined:
workstation machine membership, accounts, custom groups,
grants to domain accounts/groups, etc.

Roger,

Well in this case i have to back up the configurations
with FAST Wizard, write the XP computers in the Active
directory, and then restore the backup to the XP machines.
Am I right?

Hello Paulo,
Unfortunately this option will not fix your problem. The FAST Wizard is
designed to move settings from one computer to another. This will not help
in regards to putting back domain specific information. Mainly because
once you recreated the domain none of the SIDs from the workstations or
users exist anymore. You will have to reconfigure all teh settings you had
in place before the rebuild.

I believe Curtis has cleared this up. It is not "the configurations"
but the per-user data that FastWiz could help you with.
You could also look into the info Torgeir has posted in
thread subj: moving local user settings to domain use
this newsgroup, thread date: Nov 20
for other alternatives for shortcuts to help preserve the old
per-user account data/profiles.
As far as domain structure, as was said, you must rebuild
from the ground up.
