I use msconfig for modifing my start up of programs at boot.
When I start up windows now I get this annoying screen telling me that
my start up config has been altered. No kidding.
I have to keep telling it OK and then it wants me to re-boot. How do I
get rid of this annoyance?

Next time that window appears, put a check in the little box
in the lower left corner that says "do not show this message anymore....".

Greetings--You'd be better off with a freeware utility called "Startup
Control Panel". Here is a description: "Startup Control Panel is a
nifty control panel applet that allows you to easily configure which
programs run when your computer starts. It's simple to use and, like
all my programs, is very small and won't burden your system. A valuable
tool for system administrators!

Startup Control Panel is compatible with all modern versions of
Windows, including Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP."
