Config\system missing or corrupt

I am experiencing the same problem as many of the postings I see here. But I
seem to have more problems. My computer is a homebuilt with a MachSpeed PT800
motherboard running normal speeds and a P4 2.4 Ghz running at 2.4 running
Windows XP home with SP2 without any major problems. I was having minor
problems with the boot sequence and, in my ignorance, flashed the BIOS. It
didn't update, leaving me a dead motherboard. It was covered by the manuf and
they replaced the exact board. I reinstalled the board into the same hardware
configuration whenI got it back and got the above error message. When I try
to boot from the install CD (which is only SP1) it will get as far as "Setup
is starting Windows" and then I get various stop errors, everything from
memory to hardware configuration, to not enough drive space( my boot HD is an
80Gb Seagate SATA drive). I even load the serial raid drivers when Setup
tells me to but it can't find the drive, even though the BIOS does. I bought
a new IDE drive and tried to install Windows on that, but Setup gives me
errors that it can't copy the files over to the drive.

I'm thinking that the replacement mobo I was sent is a dud and the I/O
controller is the problem, because I can't believe that 2 HD, the memory, and
2 different CD drives would all have gone bad simultaneously. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tina

Open the BIOS,exit page,select,load set-up defaults,or select load optimize
defaults, agree, then go to start-up,prefrences,set to cdrom as #1 with xp cd
installed,set C: drive as 2nd priority,save changes and exit.If the problem
still exist, power off computer, unplug, remove the battery, this clears the
BIOS,
remove for 20-30 seconds, replace, start computer, youll have to reconfigure
the basics in the BIOS,then install xp cd,boot to cd.
